Last Ultrasound

Hi all,

I had my last ultrasound this morning. My Mom was on hand to witness, and we were treated to a really nice show from our little girl.

She's already 5lbs 6oz and is about 9 days ahead of schedule in development, so I will most likely deliver early. She's really tall too, so I may be giving birth to a basketball player.

She's been practicing her breathing and we got to see her chest expand and contract, which was cool.

She's also now in position - head down and face back - so she's ready to go when she's done cookin. :)

Here's a pic of her face. (tilt your head to the right - she's looking at us - black areas are the eye sockets) - the arrow points to the tip of her elbow. Looks uncomfortable. I don't know how her cheeks could get any chubbier than they are right now.

She's coming so soon!

Finished Master

Hi everyone,

We finally finished our master bedroom & bathroom - kudos to Dave for all of his sweat equity to make it happen. He worked so hard - did all of the electrical/plumbing/framing and made the shower pan and shower bench himself - along with the hardybacker/sheetrock/taping/mudding...really - he did so much.

Anyway - we love it!!! The crib is going in the small anteroom with the BIG window.

Home birth!

Well, the latest news is that we've decided to have a home birth. We're very excited about it.

Most people freak out when they hear it, thinking that it's antiquated and that a midwife shows up with a rolled up piece of leather to bite on in labor. That's just not the case.

Really, homebirth is very safe, as it is only done with a healthy mom and baby. Also, midwives are medically trained. They can do everything that the hospital can do in a normal birth, except for an epidural and and a c-section, which require doctors.

If our baby is in distress, the midwife will know early, as she and her assistant will be monitoring me and the baby constantly. We have a transport plan if we need to get to the hospital in an emergency. Most births are drama and trauma-free.

So that's the basic story. We feel confident in our decision. I know it may not be everyone's way to go, but Dave and I feel strongly that this is right for us and our child.

A Day in the Life...

Hi all,

There's not a ton to report, but I've been so negligent with the baby blog, I figured I'd give a quick update.

My last doc appt was 2 weeks ago. I lost 3 lbs since the last month. Since the doc said that the baby was growing fine, she wasn't concerned. Looks like I'll be around 15 lbs down after the baby is born. Woohoo! No one worry - I'm eating normally. Baby's just taking all the good calories. Also had my glucose test done and I don't have gestational diabetes, which is great.

I'm officially 7 months this coming Tuesday. Time flies. Don't exactly know how I'll be 28 wks / 7 months with almost 3 months to go - but hey - I guess pregnancies these days are 10 months instead of nine. Our little girl's kicking more than she used to - or maybe just getting stronger muscles - 'cause she's becoming Lloyd Dobler (random 80s movie reference).

We'll be done with the master bedroom/bathroom/nursery renovations within the week - can't wait! We're really looking forward to moving into the the new space. It's looking great. We'll post pics when it's done.

As for work, I'm still freelancing in Manhattan at Momentum (my client is Revlon). I'm booked until November 1st, which is great. I have a contingency plan if I somehow go into labor while I'm at work and can't make it up to Hudson Valley Hospital in time. Columbia Presbyterian will be our Manhattan hospital if that's the case.

Dave's hoping that a Qwest union doesn't go on strike. If they do, he will need to fly to Minneapolis for two weeks to cover. Not fun! Please don't strike!

I think that's about it with the updates on our end. I'll upload pics next week of the room(s). (everything's more fun with pictures).

Bad Mother

Yes, I know. I'm really bad blogger. It's just that if there's nothing new on the baby front, it's difficult to come up with thrilling and entertaining stuff to write.

Our baby girl (name TBD...yes...still) is doing well. Next doc appt. is next weekend.

I've been freelancing working on the Revlon account since last week. I'm hoping this freelance job will last until the baby comes. Then I can take 3 months off to be with our little one. woohoo...fingers crossed.

I've registered for baby paraphenalia. Who knew we needed this much *stuff*? I'm registered at buybuybaby.com, babiesrus.com and target.com and all of their prospective stores. For all of you moms out there, let me know if you see anything glaringly wrong or stupid. My friend London already told me I had stroller issues so I changed that right quick. :) I've already bought too many clothes. I don't need any clothes under 12 months, so if you're going to buy clothes, please buy over 12 months! Thank you... :)

In sad news, our family lost my uncle (my mom's brother) this weekend to numerous strokes at the very young age of 63. We've been by his side for weeks now. It's devastating to see him go, and I'm so sad he won't get to meet our little girl, but he will be in our thoughts and he'll be here in spirit. We love you Uncle Jack.

It's a GIRL!

Dave and I went to the hospital yesterday for the anatomical ultrasound. Even though our little one was being uncooperative, it mooned the ultrasound technician brilliantly enough to show her that yes, indeed....it's a girl.

We're very excited and can't wait to start the naming process...

Dave is still tied to Rocky...even though I told him that's not a girl's name and we're not doing that to her. If you see the name of the blog changed to "Little Miss Rocky Wysocki," it's Dave's doing. We'll probably play this little game for a while.

And Jeremy...no egging him on!

Now I get to buy cute little dresses like this one....

Long time no write

Hi all,

Sorry, it's been two weeks since I've posted. I've been crazed at work. We have a show in Vegas this week that I've been preparing for for over a month. A month of 11pm nights, including weekends. It's been exhausting.

In related news, I resigned from my job last Monday. I am going to freelance. So...if you know of anyone who needs a pregnant Art Director freelancer, I'm your gal. My last day here is June 18th.

I also got a new car...yay. I don't need a BMW, so we're sorta downsizing. It's not drastic. It's still a great car. A Honda CR-V. See below!

Pretty snazzy, huh? I think the kid'll love it too.

Our friend London was also AMAZINGLY generous and is giving us a crib (below). Nice, eh?

Next up for baby Rocky is an ultrasound next weekend. Mom Kammerer will be joining me to see the baby on June 7th. Two weeks after that, Dave and I find out the sex of the baby! Stay tuned...

"It's Time"

I've been told "it's time" to update the blog. Problem is...I've been working until 10pm every night and on weekends. Don't have much time to blog! We have a big Couture show coming up in a few weeks that we're preparing for, so there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

Rocky's fine, as far as I know. Dave came with me to my last doc appt last Saturday so he could see Rocky in action. I think he thought it was cool. Rocky was movin around a lot, and at one point in the ultrasound, "he" faced fully toward us. Dave goes "ohhhh man....we're making an alien." It did kinda look like an alien 'cause you could see the eye sockets. Eh well - we also saw 'his' hand pretty close, and that looked cool. Looks like it has 5 fingers at least on one hand. That's somethin.

So that's about it. Mother's Day is this weekend. Happy Mother's Day, Moms!!! And an extra Happy Mother's Day to my Grandmother. We love you all very much.

Rocky's living up to his womb name. I went in for my 2nd ultrasound yesterday. It's the one where they can somehow tell if the baby has a genetic problem by measuring the back of the neck. Luckily, it looks normal (except the baby sorta looks like an alien). As they were measuring, Rocky was fidgety and stretching and kicking and punching. Cracked me up. The ultrasound technician started to laugh and said "oh my." Yep. Oh my. We got a shot of Rocky when "he" was stretching. It's below. Too early to tell the sex. Hopefully next month.

Over the Hump

Well, it looks like I'm through the worst of it. My nausea is occasional and I'm not nearly as dizzy as I was. Though...I just stood in line at the post office for a half hour (tax day) and almost passed out in front of 50 people in line. That would have been a blast.

I also decided that I needed to chop off all my hair on Friday night. Well, that's an exaggeration...I only cut off a foot. :) I LOVE IT. It's so much easier to take care of. Only issue...a coworker rounded the corner today and said, "I know who you look like!!!"........ wait for it.......

Oh fantastic.

Next milestone for Rocky: April 28th. I have my 1st trimester screening at White Plains Hospital. Apparently I get to see Rocky in HD......oooohhhhh....

I'm 10 lbs down from when I first became pregnant. My doc's still not concerned...so I'm not. She said I potentially could come out of the pregnancy 20 lbs down from my original weight. Sweet. Thanks Rocky.

Back from the Doc. Everything's fine. Saw the heartbeat. It's definitely beating. I'm on track for Nov. 12th. Next doc appt is in a few weeks. I'm attaching two pics.

24 hours

My appt got moved up two weeks. It's tomorrow. Dr. wants to see me because I'm dizzy all the time. So I guess tomorrow I'll hear the heartbeat and have my first ultrasound. Like I said, I'll post the pics, but don't expect to see mini me. I hear it looks like a fish this early. I'm just sayin...

So I'm less of an angry elf than I was on Monday, but I'm still sick all the time, which I know...I know...is normal.

Oh, Dave's also posting to this blog occasionally, in case you haven't noticed...so pay attention to the poster. If it says something like "Tiff's a faker," you'll know the author.

Our Alien

Did I say "our baby?" I meant "that thing inside me that's making me sick 24 hours a day." I called my friend Heather, who's an OB and my friend Liz, who's a midwife. "Um...I'm nauseous 24/7, I'm completely exhausted all day, and I feel like I'm going to pass out at any moment...all the time. Normal?"

"Oh yeah...totally normal. Should get better in about 6 weeks, but you could also have it then entire pregnancy." Oh fantastic. That's super.

The only way I can describe it is total misery. How can I possibly be a productive Creative Director when I'm going to hurl or hit the floor any minute...all day? Someone at work today said, "enjoy this time." Um...no thanks. I'll enjoy it when I'm glowing and have a cute round belly. Not when I'm just feeling fat, bloated and sick.

Today is gripe day. Deal with it.

The Beginning

Hi Family and Friends,

I figured this would be a good way to update you all on the progress of little Baby Wysocki. I'm almost 8 weeks along, and according to Dave, "you know, at 8 weeks, our baby has fingers, but they're webbed." So that's progress, I think, from just cells a few weeks ago.

I'm due for my first real OB appointment on April 15th - can't wait! It will be my first ultrasound and I'll hear the heartbeat. Can't wait for that. I'll post a picture of the little one here afterwards.

I started with morning sickness this week...was hoping to maybe sail past that one. No luck. But I'm liking seltzer water and pita chips with hummus. Don't know why. But I'm not one to argue with success.

I'll post as often as I can. Enjoy the journey with me!
